Taylor was standout for George Brown over the weekend, helping win the 42nd Annual Huskies Men’s Basketball Tournament for the second straight year.
The rookie earned tournament MVP honours after a combined 54 points, 18 rebounds and eight steals over three games. He was efficient as well shooting 66% during the two-day tournament.
In the final, the forward was a handful for the Lambton Lions. He went 9-of-11 from the field for a game-high 21 points and eight rebounds.
This is the second straight time Lawrence has earned athlete of the week honours. The guard averaged 16 points per game during the Sting Classic at Seneca College and played a huge part in the Huskies winning the consolation championship last weekend.
Lawrence’s biggest game came in the first round against the Lambton Lions. She dropped 14 points in the first half and went on to record a game-high 27 points in a losing effort. The Ottawa, Ont., native followed up that performance by hitting double-digits in the next two games.
