Basketball opens regular season against Centennial
The Men's and Women's Basketball teams will open their 2019/2020 regular season on the road as they head to Scarborough Ontario to take on the Centennial Colts Friday night.
The Women's team will look to its core veterans in BC native Coco Sauve and US transfer Zae Sellers to help lead this mix of new recruits and grizzled vets to a strong showing in the East this season. The Huskies took both games against the Colts last season and will look to do it again starting Friday. Tip-off scheduled for 6PM.
The Men's team will look to its new leadership in Head Coach Jason Dawkins who is recently coming off a second-place finish with the Canadian U16 team at the 2019 FIBA American Championships. Dawkins and the 2019/20 Huskies team will look to be a top contender this season in the East after a perfect 3-0 record at the David Stewart Tip-Off Tournament at Durham College. The Huskies won both times the teams met in the 2018-19 season. Tip-off is scheduled for 8PM.
Volleyball opens regular season against Seneca
Men's and Women's Volleyball will open their 2019/2020 season on the road as they take on the Seneca Sting this Saturday Night.
The Women's team will look to improve on its 2018/2019 performance, where the team made it to a playoff cross-over match for the first time in the program's history. The team will look to its veterans in leftside Jessica Barrios, setter Jasmin Walia and OCAA All-Rookie Team selection Beatriz Vilches to help lead the charge and get the team into the final-8 championship tournament this season. The Huskies split the home-and-home with the Sting last season. Start time is scheduled for 5PM.
The Men's team will have a different look this season as the team will only be returning six players while adding a total of eight rookies that will look to help make an immediate impact. The team will count on new captain and fifth-year veteran Yuseph Jackman to lead this new team both on and off the court. The Huskies hope to right the ship against the Sting, who took both meetings last year. Start time scheduled for 7PM.
