With a combined record of 10-1 and provincial rankings of one and five respectively in the province, George Brown men's and women's basketball travel to Seneca on Tuesday night to renew the division's best rivalry.
The men (6-0, 1st east) hold the top spot in Ontario for a second consecutive week after blowout wins over Georgian and St. Lawrence. The Huskies boast a deep roster that has been dominant on both ends of the court, as George Brown currently ranks second in the province in both points per game (97.0) and points per game allowed (67.0). They've controlled the glass, ranking first in rebound margin (+13.3) while also ranking in the top spot in offensive rebounding.
The Huskies depth may be their greatest strength; on the wing they have Liban Mohamed, Kevon Guisseppi-Mascoe and Ayoub Mohamed, at guard Chris Fields, Teshayn Gayle and Haany Ahmed and Kingslee D'Silva and Adam Costanzo lead the front-line. All eight players could be well above average starters on many OCAA teams, and they have been running opponents out of the gym.
Seneca heads into Tuesday night with a record of 4-1.
The women's team (4-1, 1st east) is also coming off a pair of convincing wins - they have been excellent on both sides of the court, ranking fourth in points per game (75.6) and points allowed per game (56.0) while ranking second in rebounding margin (+11.8) and third in made field goals per game (28.8).
Tianna Sullivan, Zae Sellers, Kiyann Grimaldo and Janai Menzies are all averaging over 14 points a night on the season, and along with Coco Sauve George Brown has five players averaging double-figures. Seller has quickly established herself among the provinces best point guards in her first season, shooting 50% from the field, ranking second in the province in assists, and ninth in steals while doing a bang-up job of getting the team into sets.
The Sting are 2-1 on the season.
