George Brown basketball has won a combined eleven games in a row, and will look to stay hot on Tuesday night when they pay the Durham Lords a visit.
The men's team (10-1, 1st east) carried the momentum from going 5-1 over the holiday break, including a tournament championship and wins over a couple of the OCAA's top-ranked teams, into a semester opening win over Centennial last week.
They have been elite on the defensive side of the ball, currently ranking number one in the province in steals per game (14.2), second in points per game allowed (64.9), second in opponents three-point field goal percentage (26.1%) and third in opponents field goal percentage (37.5%). Pair that with one of the most balanced scoring attacks in Ontario, and the Huskies look poised to make a deep postseason run.
George Brown won the first matchup with the Lords 81-44, and Durham currently sits at 6-5 on the season.
The women's team (9-1, 1st east) is currently tied atop the east division standings with Algonquin, and have reeled off seven straight wins.
Tianna Sullivan (17.8 ppg), Zae Sellers (14.8 ppg) and Kiyann Grimaldo (11.5 ppg) have paced George Brown offensively, all making key contributions for a fast-paced attack. New addition Ciara Findlayter-Stephenson looked great in her debut, scoring 11 points on 4-for-7 shooting along with two assists and three rebounds. Eight Huskies are averaging at least 15 minutes a night for an impressively deep squad.
The Huskies took the first matchup 73-71, Durham heads into the game with a record of 5-4.
