George Brown basketball will finish up their 2018-19 road schedule tonight when they pay the Georgian Grizzlies a visit in Barrie.
The men's team (15-3, 2nd east) sit one game back of Seneca for top spot in the east with the Sting set to visit in their regular season finale on Saturday. A win over Georgian keeps the Huskies in the race for a division crown, and they took the opening matchup 102-58.
First-year head coach Peter Sambu has overseen a group that is among the deepest, most balanced rosters in the province. The Huskies fast-paced, high energy style of play has them ranked number one in both offensive rebounding (19.7) and steals (13.1) while boasting an attack that has four players currently averaging double figures.
With a win, George Brown would finish 7-3 on the road and have an opportunity to go perfect at home on seniors day Saturday.
The women's team (12-3, 2nd east) can assure themselves second place in the east with a pair of wins to close the season, as they currently sit a game up on Durham.
The Huskies have won three straight, holding opponents to 64 points or less in each of the three victories and continuing to establish themselves as an elite defensive unit. On the offensive side of the ball, George Brown currently ranks fourth in points per game (72.7), fourth in made field goals per game (28.0) and sixth in field goal percentage (37.3%). Both Tianna Sullivan and Zae Sellers appear to be strong OCAA All-Star candidates, putting together a pair of excellent seasons.
The Huskies won the first matchup 74-46 over Georgian.
