George Brown volleyball will play host to Georgian on Thursday night for a pair of crucial late-season matchups with the Grizzlies.

The men's team (9-7, 6th east) is currently jockeying for playoff positioning with the Canadore Panthers, one game back in the win column. It's all but assured that George Brown will hit the road for their crossover matchup, where the Huskies will be looking to qualify for a third straight OCAA Championship having won do-or-die crossover games the past two seasons.

The Huskies have won two in a row and sit above .500 both at home and on the road. In those two wins star outside hitter Vivek Mathimakki continues to make his case for player of the year, combining for 30 points on 28 attacks in a pair of impressive performances. On the season Mathimakki ranks first in the OCAA in total attacks (533), third in points (251), ninth in points per set (3.7) and ninth in kills per set (3.07).

The Huskies dropped the opening meeting with Georgian 3-0 on the road.

The women's team (6-10, 8th east) are locked in a tight battle for the east's seventh and final playoff spot, as they, La Cite, Seneca and Georgian all sit at 6-10 and three of the four will qualify for a crossover game. The only way the Huskies can assure themselves a spot is by winning out against the Grizzlies and Centennial to close the season.

Beatriz Vilches and Tiana Samuel have led the Huskies offensively, combing to average six points and nearly five kills per set. Reigning Huskies Athletes of the Week Alina Karpovnikova has been playing some of her best volleyball as of late, adding to an already impressive Huskies frontline.

The Huskies fell 3-0 to Georgian on the road earlier this season.
