GEORGE BROWN BASKETBALL TO CELEBRATE SENIORS THIS SATURDAY IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE

Date         Saturday, February 16
Time        Women 4:00 p.m. I Men 6:00 p.m.
Location  George Brown College

George Brown basketball will wrap up a highly successful regular season on Saturday afternoon at Casa Loma, with both teams assured a second place finish in the east division. The men and women are a combined 29-6 on the year and winners of six straight going into the regular season finale.

The women's team (13-3, 2nd east) already defeated Seneca by 13 on the road in the fall. The Huskies have won four straight, and rank among the provinces top five in the majority of major statistical categories. George Brown currently ranks third in points per game (73.8), fifth in points allowed (57.1), first in steals per game (14.9) and first in offensive rebounds per game (20.2).

The steals numbers are indicative of a team thats full-court press has been a game-changer all season. Zae Sellers (3.6spg), Tianna Sullivan (2.9spg) and Kiyann Grimaldo (2.2spg) have spearheaded a press that has not only stunted opposing offenses, but also led to one of the most dangerous transition attacks in Ontario. The Huskies boast the OCAA's fourth highest field goal percentage largely thanks to the great looks they've gotten off of turnovers, and come playoff time the presses importance will be amplified.

The men's team (16-3, 2nd east) have won six of seven and a win on Saturday would give the Huskies a perfect 10-0 home record on the season. Leading scorer Liban Mohamed has been lights out from beyond the arc as of late, and has hit three or more triples in seven of fifteen games that he has appeared in.

While a win would push the Huskies record to 17-3 and match Seneca's win total, the tie-breaker in the case of a season series split is the teams record against the next highest ranked opponent, in this case Durham. While Seneca is 2-0 against the Lords, George Brown split the season series, therefore assuring themselves no higher than a second place finish.

Both teams will host crossover games next Saturday at Casa Loma.
