HUSKIES VOLLEYBALL SET TO CLOSE FALL SEMESTER WITH VISIT TO FLEMING ON THURSDAY

Matchup   George Brown @ Fleming
Date         Thursday, December 6
Time         Women 6:00 p.m. I Men 8:00 p.m.
Location   Fleming College

George Brown volleyball will close the first semester on Thursday when they head to Peterborough to pay the Fleming Knights a visit.

The men's team (5-4, 6th east) can ensure they finish the semester above .500 if they can earn their third straight win and second consecutive on the road.

The Huskies have been playing some of their best volleyball of the season, fesh off a pair of victories over Durham and Loyalist. Vivek Mathimakki and Yuspeh Jackman continue to pace the squad offensively, combining for six points per set and over 100 kills thus far on the year. Mathimakki leads George Brown with 133 points on the season, while Jackman checks in with 82.

Only one game in the win column separates George Brown from the third place La Cite Coyotes in the tight east division standings.

The Knights head into the matchup with a record of 3-6 on the year.

The women's team (2-7, 8th east) is looking to get back in the win column, coming off a loss to unbeaten Durham. The quartet of Beatriz Vilches, Tiana Samuel, Ashley Lau and Jessica Barrios have led George Brown at the net. The four are combining to average over 11 points per set and also have done extremely well with the serve, with over 50 service aces.

If the Huskies plan on qualifying for a playoff spot, tonight is nearly a must-win. A victory would also give George Brown the series sweep.

Fleming is 0-9 on the season.
