Huskies women's basketball will open 2019 on Friday afternoon at the Seneca Sting Invitational.
George Brown put together an impressive fall semester, finishing the first half 8-1 and tied with Algonquin for top spot in the east. The Huskies have won six straight games on the back of a deep, balanced roster - they currently rank fourth in the province in points per game (73.1) and sixth in points allowed per game (57.7). George Brown's high-pressure defence has been a dominant force all season, and their 14.9 steals a night ranks them second in the province.
First-year Husky Zae Sellers has established herself among the best point guards in the OCAA, a savvy leader on both ends of the court. The 5'4" Minnesota native currently ranks third in Ontario with 44 assists and fourth in steals with 33 while averaging 14.4 points a night. Her ability to calm and set the offence while leading the press have been big-time difference makers.
Reigning scoring champion Tianna Sullivan has continued as a dominant force on the offensive end, averaging a team-best 17.8 points a night while shooting 46.6% from the floor. She also leads the team on the boards, averaging 9.6 a game.
George Brown opens play at 4:00 p.m. on Friday against Sheridan.
