HUSKIES HOST BIG BROTHER BIG SISTERS VOLLEYBALL CLINIC

HUSKIES HOST BIG BROTHER BIG SISTERS VOLLEYBALL CLINIC

The men's volleyball team have a rich tradition of giving back.

From hosting a Pajama Ball to benefit the Make a Wish Foundation, benefit games with proceeds going to Breast cancer Awareness and a fundraiser with Hydrate World to bring clean drinking water to impoverished countries, their impact goes beyond the hardwood. Now coaches and players put on their teaching shoes, hosting a Big Brothers Big Sisters Volleyball Clinic to Toronto youth on March 10, at the Alex Barbier Gymnasium.

"We always enjoy hosting the Big Brother Big Sisters clinic," head coach Josh Nichol said. "All season we are training and preparing for competition. This clinic gets our guys back into the gym after the season and pass on our love of volleyball onto a new group of kids."

The Huskies feel good giving back to students in their community, and admit that hosting clinics like these do as much for them as it does for the students participating. It gives them an opportunity to showcase their skills and teach the game to the next generation of volleyball players.

"It is as much fun for us as it is for the kids. It is a great way to make a difference in our community," Nichol said.

With the OCAA regular season finished, the team has been able to unwind and relax after a demanding schedule for the past six months. Giving back to a charity that impacts so many Torontonians is just icing on the cake and shows that the team is more than just student-athletes but active members of a community.
