The first Cross Country race of the season saw several new faces compete in Huskies blue for the first time.
Leading the pack in Peterborough at the Fleming College Invitational was first year runner and Kingston native Kenzie Osbourne, who paced her way to a 5th place finish with a strong time of 25:58 in the 6km race. All of the Husky women finished in the Top 10.
"A natural light-weight and speed runner, Kenzie is very talented and disciplined, said Head Coach Nelson Njeru. Having the team compete at this early point in the season was important to gauge individual strengths, and will be used to guide our training in the next few weeks as our athletes get stronger."
Veteran Angelee Weathers, a fourth year Honors Bachelor of Construction Management student, showed well with a 10th place finish in her first race back after battling a year-long stress fracture injury. As the season advances, she can only grow stronger as the team inches closer to the OCAA Championship at Windsor's St. Clair College on October 26th.
