The George Brown Huskies women’s volleyball team adds transfer Judith Prades ahead of the 2025–2026 season.
“I have known Judith for quite some time from her past playing history, and we have always had a mutual respect for each other. Judith's joining our program is an indication of the level of expectation and training we're expecting from our future recruits. She has a strong level of experience and ability to fill almost any role on the court,” head coach Daphne Choi explained.
Prades joins the Huskies after three seasons with the Sheridan Bruins (2021–2024) and one season with the Canadore Panthers (2019–2020). She has played in 35 career games, taking on roles as a setter, libero, and outside hitter throughout her career. She was also dominant in the classroom, earning the OCAA All-Academic award on three occasions. The program she will be enrolling in is a major reason why she decided to join the Huskies.
“Academically, I’ve always wanted to learn more about Social Media and how to increase my opportunities outside of my careers and responsibilities,” Prades said. “With the Social Media- Content Creation program, I hope to not only participate in social media, but to flourish in it, and utilize it for the passions that I’m always pursuing. When it comes to Volleyball, I’ve always loved the hustle mindset that George Brown WVB brings whenever I versed them in the past. The energy, the teamwork, and the defensive mindset always stood out to me, and I’m happy that I’m able to experience first hand this time around.”
Adding a player with the experience and leadership is exactly why Choi wanted Prades on the roster.
“Judith is incredibly versatile and strong. She can slide into any position, and has a high volleyball IQ. Outside of her technical skills, Judith sets a high bar for herself and her teammates and bring a positive and enthusiastic energy to every single touch. Her high performance mentality will immediately make a strong impact on our team culture and on-court goals,” Choi explained.
Seeing how the women’s volleyball program and how Choi coached them, is part of the reason why Prades decided to come back to play after a year away, but is also looking forward to making a strong impact on the team and community.
“I always want to be able to leave a positive impact on wherever I go. I aspire to excel in my academics and use it to further pursue my career in coaching Volleyball, and advocating for Women’s Sports, especially in the digital world,” she said.
