The volleyball teams will play two matches this week, the first being on the road against the Durham Lords on Wednesday night.
The Women's team is coming off an impressive victory over Fleming to start the second half of the season. They shutout the Knights 3-0 at St James Athletic Centre to improve their overall record to 6-4. They will have their hands full against the undefeated, 10-0, Lords. Durham has almost been perfect this season, only dropping one set so far. The Huskies will need great performances from middle blocker Victoria Pitters and left side hitter Ashley Lau to hand the Lords their first loss. First serve is at 6PM.
The Men's team is in a very similar boat to the women. The Huskies (6-4, 4th in East) will look to hand the undefeated Lords (10-0, 1st in East) their first blemish. Durham has swept every match this season except for two. A bright spot for George Brown is they are one of the teams to win a set against Durham. In their last match on November 9th, the Huskies fell 3-1 at home but were in every single set throughout the match. First serve is at 8PM.
The Huskies will wrap up their week on Saturday afternoon against the Loyalist Lancers at St James Athletics Centre.
The women took the last meeting against Loyalist (2-7, 8th in East) on the road in early November. A big reason for the 3-1 victory was in part to the impressive play of Lau and Alina Karpovnikova. Both players had one, if not their best match of the season posting a game-high 14 points each. All the action begins at 1PM.
The men shutout the Lancers 3-0 (28-26, 25-21, 25-24) in their last matchup in November, but all the sets were very close. The Huskies were led by left-side hitter Yuseph Jackman in the contest against Loyalist (3-6, 7th in East), but he won't be in the lineup. George Brown will need other players to step up to come out victorious.
