George Brown baseball dropped a pair to Humber on Wednesday night at home as the regular season hit its midpoint.
David de Cassan opened game one strong on the mound, pitching two shutout innings before giving up a run in the third. Coming off a seven-inning gem against St. Clair, de Cassan struggled with his control in the fourth as Humber loaded the bases. With a couple of runs having already crossed the plate, Justin Marra mashed a grand slam to put things away; the Huskies would tack two runs on in the bottom of the inning but it was too little too late and the final score read 12-2 visitor.
John Lamanna got the start in game two, and unfortunately, his outing was better than his final stat line. The Huskies star induced a couple of grounders and a pop-up that should have produced outs in the top of the first, but the Huskies were unable to convert the plays defensively. Quentin Fleming and Jack Middleton led the charge in relief, and the game was called after five innings.
Next up for the Huskiesn they will visit Fanshawe in London on Saturday, followed by a doubleheader against St. Clair on Sunday. At 2-8, both series are nearing must-win territory.
