2025-26 NOMINEES: TEAM OF THE YEAR

The department will highlight the nominees of the Huskies major awards, Team of the Year, Coach of the Year, Female Rookie of the Year, Male Rookie of the Year, Female Athlete of the Year, and Male Athlete of the Year, leading up to the 56th Annual George Brown Athletic Awards on Friday, March 27th at Young People’s Theatre. Here are the nominees for the 2025–26 Team of the Year.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
This season marked an impressive turnaround under second-year head coach Ian Morse. The team improved from a 3–11 record last season to finishing fourth in the East Division and hosting a playoff crossover game. Most notably, the Huskies were one of the most efficient offensive teams in the conference, ranking in the top seven in field goal, three-point, and free throw percentage. Jayme Foreman became the first Husky to be named an East Division First-Team All-Star since 2020.

MEN’S SOCCER
The squad put together a strong fall campaign, finishing fifth in the East Division with a 5–5 record. Their offence was elite, ranking second in the OCAA in total goals (35) and sixth in shot percentage. They also posted a Huskies-high six OCAA awards as a team.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
In Tyler Latu’ila’s second season as head coach, the Huskies continued their upward trajectory. They finished sixth in the East Division with a 9–7 record. The team featured one of the highest-calibre offences in the province, ranking in the top six in kills per set, assists per set, and aces per set. Yaroslav Svidritskiy earned East Division First-Team All-Star honours for the second straight season.
