Last season, the team got off to a slow start, beginning with a 0-2-3 record, but finished strong by winning four of their last five matches to clinch home-field advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Ultimately, they fell by a score of 1-0 to the Centennial Colts. This year, with a mix of returners and new faces, the Huskies hope to get back to the OCAA Final Four.
Coach’s Thoughts
After missing out on the Final Four for the first time in three seasons, head coach John Williams believes the team has the talent to return.
“With a couple of returning veterans in the right positions and a group of young, hungry recruits, I believe we have a strong chance to improve on last season,” head coach John Williams said.
Key Returning Players
Mark Do Coito, Defender
Do Coito enters his fifth and final season with the Huskies. Last year was by far his best, as he became the first Husky since 2018 to claim the titles of East Division Player of the Year, CCAA All-Canadian, and OCAA League Scoring Champion. He also earned East Division First Team All-Star honours for the third straight season. Since joining in 2021, Do Coito has helped lead the program through its best run, which includes an OCAA silver medal, a bronze medal, and the program’s first-ever berth to the CCAA National Championships. He is also five goals shy of cracking the OCAA’s all-time top-10 scoring list.
Daniel Parisotto, Midfielder
Parisotto emerged as one of the best all-around first-years in the OCAA during the outdoor season, earning a spot on the East Division All-Rookie Team. Trusted to control the pace of play from midfield, he thrived in this critical role. With a full season under his belt, he is expected to take on an even bigger role this year.
Hakeem Bailey, Midfielder
In his first season, Bailey transitioned seamlessly from striker to midfielder. He showcased exceptional size, ball control, and defensive abilities. His imposing presence made him a force in one-on-one situations. Bailey’s play earned him East Division Second Team All-Star honours in 2024. This season, he’s looking to take the next step.
Recruited Players
Markus Fracasso
Yamen Dahdal
Taariq Ali
“My focus is on teaching them the culture at GBC and getting them to fully buy in. If we can accomplish that, the next few years will look very promising,” Williams said.
