HUSKIES HIRE LIN AS WOMEN’S SOCCER HEAD COACH

HUSKIES HIRE LIN AS WOMEN’S SOCCER HEAD COACH

The George Brown Huskies are excited to announce Amie Lin as the new Head Coach of the Women’s Soccer team. Lin has been a dedicated assistant coach with the program for the past 10 years.

"I was excited and grateful for the opportunity to lead this program, especially after dedicating the last nine years as an assistant coach," Lin explained.

In addition to her role with the Huskies, Lin is currently the Head Coach of the Women’s Elite Program at GS United. Under her leadership, the team captured the Ontario Cup championship and proudly represented the province at the 2024 National Championships. She also founded GS United’s youth program five years ago and currently coaches the U13–U18 teams.

"Amie was appointed our new head coach after more than a decade of both a dedication towards, and development within, our Huskies program. With her high performance success with GS United (OWSL) on a national level, an expedited coaching B License in progress to further her existing C License, and ten years under her belt with George Brown she was a great fit to continue moving the team in a positive direction. We're really looking forward to what she will bring to this upcoming season," said Melanie Gerin-Lajoie, Manager of Athletics & Recreation.

Throughout her coaching tenure with the Huskies, she has served under several head coaches, gaining invaluable experience that has prepared her well for this new role as Head Coach.

"Over the years as an assistant coach, I've been fortunate to have worked under three amazing coaches. Through observing and learning how they manage challenges, motivate athletes and create strong team identities has helped me shape my own unique coaching style and prepare for this next step,” Lin explained. “I've learned that communication, consistency and connection are the foundation of a successful program. Building strong, trusting relationships with our student athletes is key to helping them perform at their best and ensure their time on the team is both positive and meaningful."

Lin plans to build on the momentum the Huskies have generated over the past few seasons.

"My first goal is to establish a culture built on trust, hard work and unity, both on and off the field. While we aim to compete this season, I'm also committed to laying a foundation that will set the program up for long-term success,” she explained. “Once the team comes together during preseason, I'll have a better understanding of our dynamics, and from there, we can set clear, realistic team goals."
