The department will highlight the nominees for the Huskies’ major awards, Team of the Year, Coach of the Year, Female Rookie of the Year, Male Rookie of the Year, Female Athlete of the Year, and Male Athlete of the Year, during the week leading up to the 56th Annual George Brown Athletic Awards on Friday, March 27th at Young People’s Theatre. Here are the nominees for the 2025–26 Female Athlete of the Year
Jayme Foreman, Women’s Basketball
The 5'9 guard instantly became one of the top scorers in the OCAA. She ranked second in the conference in points per game (18.7) and proved to be one of the best shooters, ranking first in free throw percentage (88.9%), fourth in three-point percentage (34.6%), and 13th in field goal percentage (41.8%). She recorded 20-plus points in six games, highlighted by a career-best 30 points against the Loyalist Lancers on November 29. She was named an OCAA East Division First-Team All-Star, the first Husky to earn the honour since 2020. She also put up impressive stats in the classroom, earning CCAA All-Academic honours.
Kaarina Niemimaa, Volleyball
The outside hitter defined what it means to be an all-around player, impacting matches in various ways. Offensively, she led the team in points per set (2.9), kills per set (2.32), and service aces per set (0.49). Defensively, she improved significantly, ranking 11th in the OCAA in digs per set (3.09) and total digs (145). Both marks ranked second on the team and were career highs.
Annia Pavli, Soccer
After missing the entire 2024 season with a torn ACL, Pavli returned with a vengeance, earning OCAA East Division Second-Team All-Star honours. The midfielder was effective on both ends of the pitch, leading the team with a career-high two goals, including one game-winner. She also excelled in the classroom, earning CCAA All-Academic honours.
