MEN’S VOLLEYBALL BRINGS IN CARNAHAN

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL BRINGS IN CARNAHAN

The George Brown Huskies men’s volleyball team is excited to announce the commitment of Declan Carnahan to the program ahead of the 2025–26 season.

“Declan brings both size and a competitive edge, which are traits we really value. It was important for us to recruit young athletes who can make an immediate impact but also have the potential to grow with the program. Our culture values competitors, learners, and leaders, and Declan shows real promise in all three areas,” second-year head coach Tyler Latu’ila said.

Standing at 6'6", the middle blocker/right side hitter cited Coach Latu’ila as a primary reason behind his decision to join George Brown.

“What gripped me immediately was my first chat with Coach Tyler. Tyler made the program out to be exactly what I was looking for.  Tyler was exactly the coach I was looking for and wanted to be coached by. I enjoy the fact that GBC is a polytechnic school, as well as offering a welding class,” Carnahan explained.

Latu’ila believes Carnahan will help raise the standard in the gym from the moment he arrives.

“He’s strong at the net and has solid technique for his age. I think he’s going to push the level in our gym from day one and has the potential to be a real force in our league. His presence and work ethic will raise the standard for everyone around him,” he explained.

Carnahan has played with the Calgary Lions over the past few seasons and will be enrolling in the Business Administration – Marketing program. He’s bringing both athletic and academic goals into his time as a Husky.

“Off of the court, I would like to be able to get a degree and finish all four years in the course. I want to be able to advance academically, and further my knowledge with a business perspective.,” he stated. “At the end of my years at George Brown I would like to have the knowledge and skills to be able to start my own business with my father bringing everything that I will have learned and put it into my everyday life.”
