The George Brown Huskies men’s volleyball program is excited to announce the addition of twins Angus and Zach Flynn ahead of the 2026–27 season.
"After watching Zach and Angus play through the recruiting process, it's clear that they are both solid recruits that will bring some great young talent that will help grow and strengthen our team as they develop themselves. In Zach we bring in a very steady setter, while Angus brings us versatility on the attacking end. We're extremely happy to be welcoming them into our program this coming Fall as they each pursue business degrees at George Brown," said Melanie Gerin-Lajoie, Manager of Athletics & Recreation.
Angus and Zach are from Halifax, Nova Scotia, and are extremely excited to travel and play for George Brown in Toronto, Ontario.
“My initial reaction to becoming a Husky was excitement. I am excited for the upcoming season with a team I have only heard good things about,” Angus explained. “I committed to George Brown Polytechnic because it gave me the opportunity to keep pursuing the sport I love. Combined with the program I am interested in, George Brown is a perfect fit for me.”
“I was offered the opportunity to attend the school, and I really wanted to continue playing volleyball. They also had the program I was interested in, so I committed,” Zach stated. “I was excited at the prospect of continuing my athletic career at a place I’ve heard such great things about.”
Angus is a 6’4 outside hitter, while Zach is a 6’1 setter. The brothers have played with each other their whole lives and have had extremely successful volleyball careers. Their extensive résumés include qualifying for the Provincial Finals this past season, winning a silver medal at the 18U Provincial Championships in 2025, and capturing the 16U Provincial Championship in 2023. In addition to volleyball, the twins are also two-time national sprint canoe champions.
The Flynn twins will be enrolled in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce program starting in September and are excited to make an impact both on the court and in the classroom.
“I hope to progress my skills in volleyball, both physically and technically, to become one of the best setters in the league,” Zach said. “Academically, I’m looking forward to learning about finance, how money works, and how that applies to the business world. I work hard to balance school and sport so I can excel at both and secure a good job after graduation.”
“On the court, I hope to continue developing and improving at the next level,” Angus explained. “Academically, I am excited to pursue a business degree and take courses I haven’t been exposed to in high school.”
