The George Brown Huskies men's volleyball team is excited to announce the addition of Bryce Chang ahead of the 2026–27 season.
"Meeting Bryce was a pleasure on and off the court. He is a passionate person and comes across as a leader who centers himself in a contagious positive energy. A fantastic team player who constantly works hard to achieve the best possible outcome," first-year head coach Black Belcher explained.
The 6'0 libero has honed his skills throughout his career to prepare himself for this next step. He currently plays for the Pursuit Volley U19 team and has earned individual awards such as Best Libero at the Pursuits/Nexus Showcase Camp in 2024 and the Salisbury Heart Award in 2026. He has experience playing both beach and indoor volleyball, while also capturing a gold medal in the 15U Nationals Gold Tier 7 division. He is extremely excited for this opportunity and can't wait to get started.
"It didn't feel real. It felt like a dream come true. It's been a goal I've been chasing since I started volleyball, so for that to finally happen is an incredible feeling," Chang said. "Coming from a smaller town, I wanted to experience the big city and the busy life. With the opportunity to continue the sport I love while preparing for my future, I thought George Brown was the best place to experience that."
The athleticism and defensive abilities that Chang brings to his overall game are something Coach Belcher is excited to see translate to the OCAA.
"Bryce's playing style is fluid, and he is willing to grind through the toughest moments for his team. The entire coaching staff is excited to bring Bryce's energy into our gym and to see him grow through his success as an athlete and student at George Brown," Belcher said.
Chang will be enrolled in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Services) program and is ready to achieve his goals on and off the court.
"In class, I want to not only study hard but also build relationships with my classmates and professors in a city I am unfamiliar with. On the court, I hope to lead the team from the back row and provide a different perspective that can help contribute to our team's success," he said.
