HUSKIES COMEBACK COMES UP JUST SHORT

The men's basketball team battled back from a 22-point second-half deficit but fell just short, dropping a 76–74 decision to the Fleming Phoenix at home on Friday (Jan. 9) night.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Huskies dug themselves a hole early, shooting 36 percent from the field and trailing 26–16 after the opening 10 minutes. The Phoenix built on their lead in the second quarter, heading into halftime up 47–30.

George Brown came out firing in the third quarter, led by Quentin Ollivierre, who recorded seven points in the frame to help the Huskies outscore Fleming 27–11. The run cut the deficit to just one, 58–57, heading into the fourth quarter.

The final 10 minutes were a complete battle. Fleming led by seven with 90 seconds remaining, but the Huskies responded with a 7–2 run to tie the game with nine seconds left. After Fleming hit two free throws to regain the lead, George Brown had a chance to tie, but the final shot missed with two seconds remaining.

NOTABLE STATS: Mikey Vicente led the way in his Huskies debut with a team-high 12 points, along with three steals, two assists, and two rebounds. Devonte Campbell filled the stat sheet with seven points, six rebounds, five assists, and a steal in the loss.

UP NEXT: The Huskies (3–7) head to Ottawa, Ont., to face the Algonquin Wolves (3–6) on Saturday, Jan. 17. Tip-off is scheduled for 8pm.
