The George Brown Huskies held off a late push from the St. Lawrence Surge to end 2025 with an 80–69 win on the road Sunday (Nov. 30) afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Huskies dug themselves a hole early as they shot 22.2% from the field compared to St. Lawrence's 50% in the opening 10 minutes. The score sat 17–9 for the home side.
The script flipped in the second quarter as the Huskies shot 58% from the field compared to the Surge's 20%. It was in large part due to Devonte Campbell, who went 5-of-5 for 11 points, including three steals, to give the visitors a 35–30 lead at halftime.
George Brown kept the pressure on in the third, increasing their lead to 15 to head into the final quarter up 58–43. The Surge came out in the fourth with a 14–4 run to cut the deficit to as little as five, but couldn't get any closer.
NOTABLE STATS: Campbell posted a team-high 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting, while filling up the stat sheet with five rebounds (three offensive), four assists, and three steals off the bench. Iffy Chiekwe tallied 12 points and seven rebounds in the win.
UP NEXT: The Huskies don't play a regular-season game again until 2026, when they host the Fleming Phoenix on Friday, January 9. Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm.
