HUSKIES DROP DECISION TO LA CITÉ

The George Brown Huskies were edged 79–71 by the La Cité Coyotes on the road on Sunday (Jan. 18) afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Huskies came out fast, with six players recording a basket to give the team a slim 19–17 advantage after the opening 10 minutes. The back-and-forth continued in the second quarter, but the Coyotes held a 35–34 lead at halftime.

The trend continued in the third quarter as both teams shot over 48 percent, but the Coyotes pushed their lead to three at 60–57. La Cité opened the fourth quarter on a 12–3 run to pull away. The Huskies cut the deficit to six but couldn't get any closer.

NOTABLE STATS: Deonte Campbell led the charger with a team-high 11 points, five assists, three rebounds and a steal, while Tyrese Drummond-Golden recorded 10 points, three rbeounds and two steals off the bench.

UP NEXT: The Huskies (3–9) return home next weekend, opening the stretch against the Loyalist Lancers (4–7) on Saturday (Jan. 24) afternoon. Tip-off is set for 3pm.
