The George Brown Huskies ended 2025 with a 3–0 (25–12, 25–23, 25–19) victory over the Fleming Phoenix at home on Saturday (Nov. 29) afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Huskies were in complete control in the opening set, jumping out to a 5–0 lead. Fleming wasn't able to dig themselves out of the early hole as the Huskies cruised to the first-set win.
The start of the second set was a back-and-forth affair, but with George Brown up 9–7, they rattled off a 10–3 run that ultimately put the set out of reach for the Phoenix.
The visitors came out firing in the third set, jumping out to a 14–9 lead. The Huskies responded with a 6–1 run to tie the score at 15–15. The two sides exchanged the next eight points to make it 19–19, but George Brown then won the next six points to take the match.
NOTABLE STATS: Kaarina Niemimma recorded a match-high 12 points on eight kills, three service aces, and a block, while also posting a season-best .375 hitting percentage. Defensively, she tied for a team-high seven digs in the win.
Middle blocker Elorie Stirling posted nine points on seven kills, a service ace, and a block, while Jada Morrow recorded a match-high 17 assists.
UP NEXT: The Huskies are off until 2026, when they open the second half of their season against the Fleming Phoenix (1–7) on the road on Saturday, January 10. First serve is at 1pm.
