The Huskies women’s volleyball team has announced the addition of assistant coach Alex Dube.

“I’ve consistently heard great things about the Huskies program, from the culture within the team to the professionalism of the coaching staff. The opportunity to be part of such a strong and supportive environment made it an easy decision for me,” Dube explained.

With the departure of long-time lead assistant coach Tim Tan to the TMU Bold, the program had a major role to fill. Eighth-year head coach Daphne Choi believes Dube is a stellar addition to the team.

“Alex has a great way with athletes and uses her experience competing - and winning - at the highest levels of the CCAA to bring a fresh perspective. Our strong connection and respect for Humber College’s program and success made it an easy decision to welcome Alex to our team. With this addition, we have a vast amount of CCAA and pro-level experience on the staff to propel us through this next really exciting season,” Choi explained.

As a player for the Humber Hawks, Dube built an impressive resume. During her four seasons, the middle blocker was part of three OCAA Provincial Championships (2022, 2023, and 2024), a CCAA bronze medal (2023), and an OCAA silver medal (2020). On the coaching side, she has spent the past few seasons working at the OVA club level and served as a head coach for Nike training and skills camps.

“My passion for volleyball has always extended beyond playing. Coaching gives me the opportunity to help athletes develop not only their skills but also their confidence and love for the game. It’s incredibly rewarding to contribute to their growth on and off the court,” Dube explained. “I’m looking forward to contributing to a high-performance environment and helping athletes sharpen their technical skills. More importantly, I’m excited to build strong relationships with the players and be a consistent support system for them throughout the season.”

Dube’s achievements off the court at Humber are just as impressive. She earned the 2021 CCAA National Scholar Award and the 2024 OCAA All-Academic honour. She graduated with a Bachelor of Interior Design and believes her experience as a student-athlete will be a valuable asset.

“As a recent student-athlete myself, I understand firsthand the balance and challenges that come with competing and studying at the same time,” she stated. “That perspective allows me to better connect with players and guide them through both the athletic and academic pressures they may face.”


The Huskies will open their season on the road on Friday, October 17th, against the Georgian Grizzlies. Interested in joining the team? Open tryouts will be held on September 10th at 8 p.m. at the St. James Athletic Centre. Be sure to fill out the Varsity Tryout Form before attending.
