George Brown basketball is headed to Oshawa on Tuesday night for a pair of big games against the Durham Lords.
The women's team (6-0, 1st east) is coming off their most impressive win of the season, a 20-point victory over previously undefeated Seneca. The performance left no doubt that the Huskies are for real, led by a trio of talented veterans in Aprille Deus, Tianna Sullivan and Kiyann Grimaldo.
Sullivan just became the women's basketball program's all-time leading scorer, and importantly has mixed efficiency with volume scoring this season. The 5'9" wing is averaging 17.7 points a night on 44.7% shooting, and has scored at least 13 points in all six wins. Deus has been arguably the division's best point guard, a leader on and off the court who runs the Huskies elite offense. She has also been remarkably consistent, scoring no fewer than eleven points in each game and averaging a team-high 6.5 assists per game (3rd in the OCAA).
As a team, the Huskies are currently the OCAA's second-highest scoring outfit (79.5) and are allowing the third-fewest points a night (56.3)
Durham heads into Tuesday night with a record of 4-2, and they have yet to lose at home this year.
The men's team (7-1, 2nd east) will look to bounce after suffering their first loss of the season to Seneca on Friday night.
George Brown currently has a plus-106 point differential, good for second best in the east. Alex Petronis continued his red-hot start to the season on Friday, pouring in a team-high 30 points to up his season average to 18.7. The 6'4" guard is clearly among the top guards in the province and capable of filling up the scoresheet like few others.
Durham's men's team heads into Tuesday night's action 6-1 and winners of four straight.
