UNDEFEATED HUSKIES BASKETBALL SET TO HOST CROSSTOWN RIVAL CENTENNIAL ON HERITAGE NIGHT

UNDEFEATED HUSKIES BASKETBALL SET TO HOST CROSSTOWN RIVAL CENTENNIAL ON HERITAGE NIGHT

In celebration of 50 years of sport at George Brown, each Huskies varsity program will be celebrating Heritage Night during one regular season game/invitational during the 2017/18 season. These dates will include the Huskies wearing throwback jerseys from the programs most successful era, alumni on-hand and special throwback promotions.

On Wednesday night, the Huskies basketball program continues the series against Centennial. The men's program will recognize the 1974-75 national championship winning team, while the women recognize the 1979-80 provincial champions.

Crosstown rival Centennial will be in town on Wednesday night when the George Brown Huskies basketball program looks to keep their perfect record intact.

The men's team (5-0, 1st east) has strung together three straight road victories, and dating back to last season have now 20 consecutive regular season games. A win on Wednesday would assure the Huskies go a full calendar year with a regular season defeat.

Wednesday will offer an interesting contrast in styles, with the Huskies boasting one of the provinces most balanced attacks, while the Colts offense largely relies on a trio of high volume scorers.

Alex Petronis, Dejazmatch James, Matt Bukovec and Teshayn Gayle all average double-figures, while Adam Costanzo and Jordan James check in just under that mark. George Brown has held their opponents under 70 points in all but one contest, and have consistently won the transition game.

A win would give the program its best start in nearly two decades.

The women's team (3-0, 2nd east) look like a completely different squad in head coach Warren Williams second season at the helm, pressuring opponents for 94-feet and forcing turnovers at an elite rate – the Huskies have combined for 60 steals through just three games.

2016-17 OCAA All-Star Tianna Sullivan is again establishing herself among Ontario's elite scorers, averaging 19.7 points per game. Returning point guard Aprille Deus has done it all, averaging 13.7 points, 5.7 assists, and three steals while doing a stellar job initiating the offense.

George Brown currently ranks among the OCAA's top-five in points per game, field goals made, field goal percentage, three-point percentage, assists per game and rebounds per game.

The women's game tips off at 6pm, men's game at 8pm. Click
