Throughout the month of November, Huskies Athletics will be accepting donations in support of Movember at all home varsity games. Spectators can guess the number of candies in a jar at the gate, $1 for one guess and $5 for three. The closest guess wins the jar and Huskies SWAG, with all proceeds going in support of men's health issues. Check out the promo video
With a combined record of 21-0, something will have to break on Friday night when the Huskies basketball program plays host to the Seneca Sting in an early season must-see matchup.
The men's team (7-0, 1st east) currently boast Ontario's second-stingiest defence, allowing just 65.6 points per game. Opponents have shot 33.7% from the field (lowest mark in the OCAA) while the Huskies are forcing nearly twelve turnovers a night.
Four Huskies are currently averaging over 12.6 points per game: Alex Petronis (16.4), Dejazmatch James (15.7), Matt Bukovec (13.0) and Adam Costanzo (12.7). George Brown's athleticism has been on display throughout the season; along with the effective point guard trio of Petronis, Chris Fields and Teshayn Gayle the Huskies set of wings can all finish on the break and get to the rim.
Seneca heads into the matchup 5-0, led by Khalil Miller and Trevor Hutton who are combining for 34 points a night.
The women's team (5-0, 1st east) have turned into an elite offensive team, ranking among the provinces top five in points per game (80.6), field goal percentage (41%), field goals made per game (32.8) and total points (403).
Tianna Sullivan, who just became the program's all-time leading scorer on Tuesday night, has led the way (18.5 ppg) while point guard April Deus (14 ppg) and Kiyann Grimaldo (9.6 ppg) remain key contributors. Grimaldo is also averaging nearly seven boards a night, while power forward Sherral Wilson is much improved, checking in at nearly six points and 4.3 rebounds a night.
Seneca heads into the action 4-0; Taylor Allicock is averaging 16.8 points per game.
