Outfitted in retro 70's jerseys from the golden era of Huskies basketball, George Brown earned a pair of impressive wins on Wednesday night. The program took home two convincing victories over Centennial to improve to a combined 10-0 on the season, having yet to lose a game nearly a month into the regular season.
The women's team (4-0, 1st east) were in control from the opening tip in a 87-64 win over the visiting Colts. With the victory, the Huskies moved into a first-place tie with Seneca and are the eastern division's highest scoring outfit.
Tianna Sullivan continued her torrid scoring pace, pouring in a team-high 19 points on 7-for-15 shooting while earning six trips to the line. Point guard Aprille Deus was her usual solid self, finishing with 18 points and adding a season-high 13 helpers in the win.
The Huskies continued what is becoming a trend, with the Colts unable to handle George Brown's pressure; George Brown forced 22 turnovers on the night. Deus led the way with six steals, while ever-improving forward Sherral Wilson had five.
George Brown outscored Centennial every quarter but the fourth (losing by one), and dominated across nearly every category.
The men's team (6-0, 1st east) continued to cruise with a 75-60 win, and have now gone over a calendar year without a regular season loss.
Adam Costanzo was dominant, putting together a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds on 7-for-14 shooting. The 6'5" wing is quickly establishing himself among the OCAA's best two-way players, a major presence on both ends of the court.
Dejazmatch James also continues what has been a spectacular stretch as of late, scoring 22 points on over 50% shooting. James has now scored 83 points in his last four outings, and has continually tortured smaller guards on the block.
Alex Petronis and Matt Bukovec both hit double-figures with 11 points apiece.
Next up for the Huskies they will visit Georgian on Tuesday, November 14 in Barrie. Follow @GBC_Huskies on twitter for updates throughout.
