George Brown men's basketball (4-0, 1st east) will visit the Canadore Panthers on Saturday afternoon looking to keep their perfect record intact.
Balance has been the key offensively, as six Huskies currently average over eight points a game. Combo guard Alex Petronis leads the way, averaging 20.7 points per game on 57.5% shooting from the field, while Matt Bukovec (13.3 ppg), Dejazmatch James (10.8 ppg) and Teshayn Gayle (10. 3 ppg) all hit double figures. As a team George Brown has scored the second most points in the province, and their 45.4% field goal percentage is good for fifth in the OCAA.
On the defensive side of the ball, it has been an active backcourt that's been the catalyst for the provinces fourth stingiest team. The Huskies are averaging nearly thirteen steals a night, with James, Petronis and point guard Chris Fields combining for nearly eight steals a night. George Brown is holding opponents to just 34.9% shooting from the field, and 32.0% shooting from beyond the arc.
Adam Costanzo and Jordan James have played key roles on the wing, consistently getting out in transition and burning opponents on the break. The duo is combining for 17 points, rank first and second on the team respectively on the boards, and provided great defensive length.
Canadore heads into the weekend at 1-2, having defeated Centennial in their home opener. George Brown swept the season series in 2016-17.
