George Brown's men's basketball program is pleased to announce the addition of 6'3" swingman Nick McDonald for the 2017/18 season.
"Nick is a Division 1 level athlete who will electrify our fans with his ability to finish above the rim," said head coach Jonathan Smith. "He can also spread the floor and finish in the lane with both hands. We believe his talent and athletic ability will help us make the jump to the next level."
McDonald arrives after having spent a year at New Mexico Junior College, where he redshirted as a freshmen after a successful run at St. Francis Xavier High School.
"I'm excited to be here, and feel as though we can do big things this year," said the Mississauga native. "We're going to play an up-tempo game, and that suits my style of play perfectly."
He will join one of the country's most versatile set of wings, teaming up with returnees Matthew Bukovec and Jordan James, along with incoming Dalhousie transfer Alex Petronis. All four have the ability to play the two, three, and four, and provide the Huskies with multiple ball handling options. There will again be no shortage of scoring threats for a team that finished with the most points in the province in 2016/17.
"I'm a guy who can do damage in the open court, and we are going to get up and down," said McDonald.
Last year the program rode fifteen straight regular season wins to close the season to a 19-1 record, won a provincial silver medal and earned their first victory at nationals in four decades. That success has translated into a recruiting class that now includes McDonald, Petronis, Kings College transfer Justin Bhangoo, Louis Bryan and Tomas Kucic.
