George Brown's men's basketball team will host the D-II Notre Dame College Falcons (Mountain East Conference) on Friday night at Casa Loma Campus.
"I'm excited, it's a good D-II team coming in, another game that will provide us with an extremely high level of competition," said head coach Jonathan Smith. "Building relationships with programs across the border is always a good thing, and we're doing that this week."
It will mark the Huskies second preseason game, as they look to bounce back after a loss to D-1 Jacksonville University on Monday night. The Huskies had three newcomers in the starting lineup against the Dolphins in centre Justin Bhangoo, small forward Adam Costanzo, and point guard Alex Petronis.
"Our guys aren't used to playing with a big as skilled as Justin, so that's going to take some getting used to. He has a great touch on the inside and is going to be a difference-maker," said Smith. "Costanzo's a gem, he communicates really well, rebounds, plays tough. A big addition for us. And Petronis showed glimpses of what he's capable of on Monday, he's another guy who's going to be key to our success."
Returning big man Nathan Samuel looked good in his season debut, banging down low with an athletic Dolphins frontcourt. He and Auns Chaudry will look to contain an imposing Falcons front line that includes five guys 6'7" or taller.
The visiting Falcons went 16-13 in 2016/17. They are led by 6'8" power forward Will Vorhees,
Opening tip is scheduled for 8pm in the Casa Loma Campus Gym.
