That date with history will have to wait just a bit longer - maybe Valentine's Day.
Talking about talented shooting guard Vadim Halimov, considered a strong candidate for Player of the Year in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association.
Halimov is that close to the all-time individual scoring mark in men's basketball.
Averaging 30 points a game this season, Halimov leads the country as the top College scorer and he picked up 28 in an 84-72 loss to Algonquin College of Ottawa - who just happen to be the only undefeated team in the OCAA with 18 consecutive victories.
George Brown, now 13-4 and the team with the most wins on the College's Varsity schedule this academic year, has three games left in the regular season starting with the final home game against La Cite of Ottawa on Feb. 9.
Then, it's off to Seneca College for a Valentine's Day get-together (that's Halimov's former school) before closing the season in Barrie on Feb. 18 against Georgian College.
The 25-year old Halimov, who was born in Uzbekistan, scored 1,279 points coming in to his final year of eligibility. He has scored 511 points in 17 league games and needs 44 to become King of Ontario and have the scoring title.
Former Durham College player Andy Batchelor, who finished his career with 1,833 points, currently holds the OCAA scoring record.
