When Vadim Halimov steps foot on the Seneca College gym floor on Valentine's Day, there will be several things flowing through his mind.
Among them, his four previous years as a student at Seneca College - and times he claims he would rather forget.
Then, there was his previous men's basketball game against Seneca this season, scoring 21 points - one of the lowest for him, albeit in a victory, in a 91-75 game on November 13.
Optimistic, you bet. Halimov - who leads the country among College scorers averaging 30 points a game - believes he can do better than 21, way better, and the talented shooting guard will be pumped.
Halimov, playing the best basketball of his life, can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
The 25-year old, in his final year of basketball eligibility in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association, also knows he has not one, but two provincial records that are up for grabs.
With two games remaining for him in the OCAA regular season, his team with a 14-4 record and playoff bound, Halimov can set the league's all-time individual scoring record, the single season total points record and the free throws record.
Halimov needs just 15 points to leap over former Durham College player Anthony Batchelor, now sitting with the lead and 1,833 career points.
Also possible, and remember he has a final game on Feb. 18 in Barrie, Halimov needs 43 points in those two remaining games to claim the single season points record.
That was set before Halimov was born - the 1973/74 season by Marv Snowden, who also played for George Brown and amassed 540 points and, one more, the free throw record is up for grabs with Halimov having 137 and needing 157 to wipe out the current mark held by Perry Doukas, then at Centennial College, and set in the 1974/75 season.
