Geometry, algebra, mathematics have one thing in common – numbers.
And when it comes to numbers, that's also the forte of Wayne Negradas.
The George Brown College student, in his second year of Business Administration and specializing in Accounting, plans to continue his education at Ryerson University and then find a job with a major company.
"I want to be an Accountant," said Negradas, who is also trying to find the right combination of numbers as a member of the George Brown Men's basketball team. "Numbers are my strength and mathematics was my best mark in high school."
Negradas thought his playing days were, ah, numbered – after high school. But, he's been able to find the right combination to accommodate his studies with the College game.
"School is so important – it's my future," said the 20-year old. ""I didn't think basketball would be possible with the time needed to focus on school work. But, I can balance it."
Negradas, a 5-foot-8 guard, was chosen Most Valuable Player in basketball at Father John Redmond high school in Toronto. He was also twice nominated for Athlete of the Year.
In his first year at George Brown, Negradas was hesitant about trying out for the Huskies.
"A College student, I just wasn't sure about whether I could make the team and also devote the time," he said. "Time for school was important as was a part time job, family time and helping my younger sister with basketball."
A left-handed shooter, Negradas has recovered from a fractured ankle suffered playing basketball, and has played in five of the Huskies first six league games in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association. - DG
