KINGSTON – It wasn't about the final placings, but the performance times that had George Brown cross country coach Mike Lavigne with a smile.
Event No. 2 of the short cross country season, and the place was the Fort Henry Hill – challenging rolling hills, warm conditions and races for the women over five kilometres while the men had an eight-kilometres run.
George Brown's men's squad finished third among the participating teams and the women were fourth.
As for individual performances, Lavigne said training times in practice the past few days paid off as the times by George Brown runners were quicker than the previous race at the Fanshawe Invitational in London – a site with similar facilities.
Eliud Lagat was 21 seconds quicker, Edgar Malchic was one minute, 29 seconds faster. Alex Brown was faster by 2:47 and Mitch Visser by 2:32.
Sharlane MacLeod was 1:44 faster, Molly Morse finished quicker by 2:02, Safia Dhanji by 1:05 and Hannah Turnbull by 51 seconds.
As for official times, MacLeod was 26
