Call it a mid-season men's basketball exhibition series of games – where there are no trophies, no all-stars and no official league points.
It's new and includes the George Brown Huskies.
The East-West Holiday Series, more like a mini-tournament, kicks off in December with six Ontario College teams involved: George Brown, Seneca and Centennial from the East Division and Sheridan (Oakville), Fanshawe
Simply put, it's an opportunity for teams from each Division to meet each other rather than wait for tournaments and post-season playoffs. Under the plan, teams only play three games – all against opponents from the opposing Division.
"I like the idea – very happy with it," said George Brown head coach Jonathan Smith. "With this, we have an opportunity to prepare for the second half of the season and it gives us a chance to see teams from the West."
Fanshawe will start the annual Holiday Series, set for Dec. 28 and 29 this year in London. Sheridan, Centennial and Humber will each take a turn as host followed by George Brown (in 2018) and Seneca. - DG
